Interesting observations
- I discovered that initially giving projects that are closest to the student's abilities helps them to gain confidence and later they are willing to try projects that seem more difficult
Most students (even the ones who love art) are apprehensive about sketching and painting as they are not confident about their ability to create a good artwork
A little extra attention and step by step assistance at the beginning goes a long way in improving performance very quickly
Building a strong foundation of sketching before starting with paints can ensure drop-out and frustration for the students
Providing a carrot at the end of a session can help speed up the progress of the class, eg. if students are interested in cartoons then teaching them a cartoon sketch at the end of a session doubles up the progress of the class
